The Church is located on Brighton Hill, a modern housing estate with nearly 5000 homes on the South West side of Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. Many of our members live on the estate or one of the neighbouring estates (including Kempshott, Hatchwarren, Beggarwood, Kempshott Park) while others travel across the town. There are just two other churches on Brighton Hill, West Basingstoke Baptist Church and Christ the king (Church of England). Our location gives us extensive opportunities for work with children and families through First Steps (our Toddlers group), children's and youth work.

Brief History

Basingstoke Baptist Church was founded in March 1982 by a group of 22 people and met initially in members' homes before moving to Brighton Hill Community School. The current site in Gershwin Road was obtained in 1984 and a cedarwood building was erected (this was replaced in 2005).

Also in 1984, the Reverend Philip Withers accepted the invitation to become our first full time minister, with financial help from the Baptist Home Mission. In 1986 the main brick building was opened.

In July 1994, after 10 years in Basingstoke, Philip Withers retired and Rev Trevor Woodget became our minister in January 1995.
